The Kitchen Linens Book
The cover alone made me want to buy this book, and it does not disappoint.
It is a gift for my mom, who loved the author's apron book. This book is filled with beautiful pictures of aprons, dish towels, dishes, tea sets, etc.
It has recipes and tips on packing a picnic and caring for linens.
It would make a great hostess gift. Only drawback is now I want my own copy.

Melinda,
Does she talk about knitted dishcloths? I am addicted to knitting and designing knitted dishcloths. This book looks right up my alley!

Looks like a good read. I'm in need of new dish towels but didn't think of vintage. Yet many vintage will still outlast new cotton ones. I almost got a vintage Christmas tablecloth for this Christmas, but changed my mind at the last moment (before the postage cut off date), and now I wish I hadn't. I love all the vintage kitchen linens, such lovely patterns. I will have to give this book a read. Thanks

There are a couple of crocheted items in this book, but no knitted dishcloths
(I am also a huge fan of them).
However, it would not surprise me one bit if this author's next venture was something to do with knit kitchen items.
This book has so many lovely things to read and looK at- if you are a fan of pretty things in the textile world, you couldn't hep but love this book.
My mother is a master of finding beautiful linens, doilies, dresser scarfs, etc when we go out thrift shopping. I'm hoping she will really enjoy this book! (I still want one).

I have that book in my saved items to buy. I didn't choose it because I was really looking for patterns. But this runs a second place...

I grew up in a house that was largely *furnished* by my grandmother, so it was (what are now) vintage linens all the way! Even though most of our neighbors didn't have or use things like that, the pictures in this book are straight from my childhood. I've seen embroidery transfers and vintage towels that they could be stamped on to in JoAnn's. Thanks for sharing this book, Mel. Of course I ordered it straight off!
Peace,
Nancy
