So, the other day, after listening to a homily at Mass, my DH asked me how he could love me better. I don't honestly know what to say. "Pray for me"...but he does. "do more dishes"...but he does. He's a great help around the house, a great help (When he can) with the kids, supportive of homeschooling... How would you answer that question? I told him that if we keep praying, and begin reflecting on Scripture more, then the Holy Spirit will lead us as to how to better love each other. ?? Ideas? I am just curious what other Catholic women might say if their husbands asked...

I think for many the answer depends on our love language. Sounds like your guy is tuned into your language/s

What she said. Figure out what your "love language" is. You can take an online test here.
I have a friend who is a Catholic psychologist and she said between the learning the 5 Love Languages and understanding personalities and temperaments she sees the greatest improvement in marriages.

You might also think about things he may do some of the time but not always that makes you feel loved, cared for, or good in some way.. for instance.. having the door held open for you can make you feel more feminine and pretty and such.. so if it's not something that he always does already, that might be somethingn to mention. Sometimes it is the little things.

For me, it would be little things that make my life comfortable (not the same thing as the reality that his going to work every day makes our lifestyle possible!) Things like asking me if I'd like a cup of tea and then not just making it, but bringing it to me with a smile and a kiss. Having the woodstove blazing when I come downstairs in the morning (that is NOT a little thing - he has to get up early and come into a cold room to do it). Things like that let me know that he *gets* that I have been taking care of others all day and need a little of that kind of care myself.
Peace,
Nancy

We both took the love languages quiz, and scored similarly. I think what we need is to just work on those areas more.
