Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Love..

I got it put up on my shelf in the living room along with a purple "scarf" that is woven into the things on my shelf.

I was so happy that I got that done before Advent actually starts.

And I have the candles for the Advent "wreath" all ready to go. I don't have an actual wreath.. just the candles set in a circle.

And I'll cut the pink and purple paper into strips for making paperchains.. we take one off each evening to count down Advent.

So often we're gone for Thanksgiving that being home to do these things before Advent actually starts is kinda novel.

Good for you, Jodie! We have our tree up with purple lights, the advent wreath, and the nativity scene (without baby Jesus.) I'm here looking in the archives for advent ideas.

This is our second year with the tree up with purple lights for advent...love it!

Love,

My word for last year was "Beloved", because I really wanted to remember and experience the love that
I know God has for me.

This year, I think I'll choose "Listen". I want to concentrate my efforts on listening to God's voice in my soul, understanding His Will, and obeying it more fully. This listening also encompasses continuing to hear God declare His love for me and dedicating myself more intensely to contemplative prayer. As I listen to God more closely and grow in affirmation and serenity myself, I want to live out my vocation by listening to others in a more affirming and concentrated manner, thereby allowing the charity and grace of the Holy Spirit to use me to draw others to Himself.

I like it, Jodie! My "word" for a while now has been "Be Love." It was the theme for a mission trip that my teens went on a couple of summers ago. That is how I want to live my life. God is Love. A few weeks ago I painted a sign for my living room with the words. I think I need to paint a few more, though!
