Ok I just finished Katherine Valentines Dorsetville series. I admit I enjoyed them (fluff but sometimes spoke to my faith). So, I really can't decide what to read - I would love to find something for my nook or ibooks app; "fluff" (so not a huge, hard to get through classic); but something by a catholic women author. I know - kind of interesting criteria - but its where I'm at now! Got any ideas?

I've never read them, but the Regina Doman books come to mind.

I would recommend both Elizabeth Goudge and DE Stevenson, but I have had a hard time finding their books for e-reading, and they aren't Catholic. Definitely nice reading that speaks to one's faith but is on the fluffier side over a classic.

Aren't Regina Doman's books more YA? Not that I don't read YA but just wondering.

I do like DE Stevenson but I haven't found anything as an e-book yet.

As far as Catholic women authors, Rumor Godden and Willa Cather spring to mind, but their books are anything but fluffy. Hmm, I'm not sure if Ellis Peters was Catholic or not, but her books are set in a Catholic monastery in the middle ages - the Brother Cadfael mysteries.

Oh, there is another Katherine Valentine book that is not part of the Dorsetville series but is sort of related (next town over or something like that - I think Dorsetville is mentioned in it) BUT it's much darker, involves an exorcism IIRC. Still a good read. It's called The Haunted Rectory

Willa Cather isn't fluff, but I find she is a fairly easy read. Death Comes to the Archbishop makes a good weekend read.

Thanks ladies! Can you tell with my oldest off to college and me not trying to keep up with his subjects (still one in 8th and one in 3rd - but not too much homework for mom compared to last few years!) I now have time to actually have a book I am reading for me! Actually, Death Comes to the Archbishop is something I have always wanted to read! I will do that next! I think it will be great - by "fluff" I mean no Shakespeare, dickens. . . You know, not war and peace! I don't want to have re-read pages to figure it out!
