Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dd is really struggling with long multiplication. We started out with Right Start and have been using Math-U-See this year. I have her play math games and drills. She still seems to struggle with having her multiplication tables memorized. Any one have any ideas on how to encourage this? SHe gets bored really quick.

What about listening to CDs? Would that capture her attention. We have Audio Memory's Times Tables, although the children aren't that keen it helps. I keep remembering the times table drills we chanted every morning at school.

Erin, thank you for the link. Math-U-See has songs, but some of them, I think, make it more difficult because of all the words! I will check into this.

I'm also thinking of having her record herself saying them and downloading it on her MP3? It might work.

My kids all enjoy Timez Attack when they are struggling to remember facts.

(ETA: I just realized you already mentioned games...sorry if this isn't helpful!)

I was always able to deal with the multiplication squares to fill out because they were timed.. and I knew that it was only for 5 minutes a day.. or if I could finish faster than that.. it would be even shorter. www.mathisfun.com has the multiplication squares and "tests" you can do online which is kinda fun. And it's timed so you know it's only ____ long and then you're done.

I double and triple the recommendation for Timez Attackz. I have a 4th grader who was really struggling with his facts at the beginning of the year. This has improved him by 200%! His younger sister in the 2nd grade is benefitting too!
