Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for some travel videos to go along with dd's geography studies. Hopefully short and sweet to use as a quick intro to each country/region. I know Netflix has a bunch but I'm not sure which would be best for her age (10). I personally love the Michael Palin videos, but they are a bit long and boring for her.
Any suggestions?

Hmm.... we are also searching for the same thing.

When we were studying Japan, our library had Big Bird Visits Japan to offer.

I thought- what the heck. Could be good, and it's bound to be kid friendly.
Probably lots of scenes from Japan, anyway.

Well... Not AT ALL what I thought. Very bizarre. Not bad... just way different than what I would expect from Sesame Street. My kids liked it.

There are other big bird travel shows... for those who dare....

all that to say: still looking

I wonder if your library would have the "Families of the World" series? Each video/dvd is a short 30 minutes. They follow 2 families from that country--usually one urban family and one rural--so each segment is only 15 minutes long. We really loved loved these videos. They are fascinating to kids because they are about kids narrated by kids, and they are mom-approved because they give a good idea of how life is different yet similar in other countries.

Here is the amazon link for it (too expensive, I am sure you can find it cheaper or free!)

Here is the Families of the World link to teacher materials

And I found some snippets of the Japan videos on youtube, but only 2 minute segments.

WE LOVE THESE! We have ILLed them through our library. We usually get one when we hit a country in History and do a little exploring. The only downside to these is that the meals you see the families enjoying are so appealing to my children that I end up being asked to prepare a feast from that country.

Lapazfarm, I am going to check out those clips! Thanks for posting.
