I really enjoy graham crackers spread with nutella! Decadent, chocolatey, relatively cheap when you buy the industrial sized double-pack of nutella from Costco.

What are your favorites?

Peace,
Nancy

Oh! What a great topic, Nancy!

I don't buy many treats, but I do like buying seasonal treats. (I'd rather make, but lately I haven't been very productive in the kitchen arts. )

Right now, we have little Maple Leaf creme cookies. Maple sugar IS autumn for us! We gather a big bouquet of bright crimson red maple leaves, make a big bouquet out of it and have Maple Leaf creme cookies with an Earl grey!

I find these in the gourmet cookie section of our local grocery store.

In summer I like lemon cookies, and winter is fun with peppermint tea and peppermint candy cookies or spiced tea and apple crisp!

Default treats for us tend toward the very simple - like a simple sugar cookie. Or apples and a little caramel sometimes.

Purely seasonal around here...Chocolate chip pumpkin bread slices, and as sugary as it might sound my kids have been enjoying the orange creme centered Halloween Oreos

I keep forgetting we have Nutella, inherited from my mom who bought it at Costco. Sadly, we have no Costco here. Nutella on grahams is a great idea!

Sadly, we usually resort to nuts and raisins, cereal, fruit. Not too fun. Sometimes we have peanut butter on apples. I really like that -- yummy, healthy and easy.

Last week I had to bring snacks to a group event so I made homemade spice cake, pumpkin bread, and peanut butter-oat-chocolate chip cookies. I did it all in one evening using things I happened to have in the pantry (that's what dictated the recipe choice). I made extra so I could leave some home. It wasn't too rough because I made one big mess and only heated the oven once. (It's still fairly hot here.) I hope I can do this more often just for us. I want to try this bar recipe next. Looks healthy and easier than cookies!

My daughters like to make sandwiches for teatime.   They make their favorite sandwiches and then use cookie cutters to give them fancy shapes. These are a constant as well as various nibblements (raisins, cereal, various crackers....)

Ideally we also have homebaked muffins, quick breads, cookies or scones but that depends on someone being able and willing to bake.

Our favorite snack, lately, involves mixing a big spoonful of nutella into a container of Greek yogurt as a fruit dip for apple slices. Its a little more healthy than straight nutella, but a treat none the less, and a little less messy. It makes the nutella stretch further, too.

Oh - a couple of you reminded me of this in your post! I enjoy a treat every now and then (in moderation) but I cannot do treats for teatime EVERY day...so my standard tea/cafe' accompaniments are a happy medium of protein/fiber with a little nod to treatiness. My favorite standard teatime accompaniment are nuts, and right now, I'm really enjoying Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds and with my afternoon cafe 'au lait, the very delicious and yummy Blue Diamond Almond covered in Dark Chocolate.

This reminded me of these Cocoa Roast Almonds--delicious! My mom brought me some after I gave birth to my daughter last month (she always brings me a little goodie bag in the hospital :)), and these were in there. Not overly sweet, but a very decadent flavor.

I have a sweet tooth and love a homemade treat in the afternoons. But I don't usually do sweets for the children, so our standard teatime fare is usually cheese and crackers, fresh bread with butter, yogurt, sliced apples, quesadillas... On days I have extra time to cook, I love making fresh biscuits with jam.

A friend came over today with her kids for a playdate. I brewed my first cup of tea for the season (chocolate rasberry truffle) and we sipped with some delicious Lorna Doone cookies that she brought over. Yum

And cinnamon covered almonds - anyone have those? All the almonds choice mentioned are delish...

This reminds me of an old thread where someone (maybe Stefoodie?) posted a recipe for a decadent chocolate cake or something that is made in a mug in the microwave. I hope I"m remembering that correctly. HELP finding the thread - because now that I've thought of it I have a tremendous CRAVING!

Peace,
Nancy

Hey, is this tea with caffeine? It sounds so extraordinary, but I am highly sensitive to caffeine.

It looks like it's a flavored black tea. I've been told that caffiene is highly water soluable.. that you might be able to "decaffinate" a tea enough by letting it steep for a minute and hten discarding the water and starting the steep over again.. shouldn't effect the flavor.

I also can't have much caffiene. How sensitive are you? Like I can have one cup of green tea with a meal (nice for chinese food) but the white tea seems to be ok.. I avoid black teas.

Sometimes if I brew a stronger decaf coffee, I can tell a difference, or eating chocolate, my heart is racing sometimes....I put up with it, but with any caffeine in coffee, I get waaaay too shaky and heart is just racing, and very dizzy...not fun. I have heard that about tea as well, being able to steep it a few minutes and throw it off, then steep again and it is decaf.

I am tempted to try, this tea sounds so lovely.

I asked my friend (who can be sensitive too), but she said it didn't feel too strong to her. I've been known for re-steeping my tea, not to decaf it; but to use the tea again. It still tastes as good, not watered down at all (and I still add a little milk to it).

Ooh, that is a DANGEROUS recipe to have around - so quick and easy, you can eat warm chocolate cake in minutes ANY TIME!!! I actually made myself throw the recipe away after a few too many indulgences.
