Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A friend from one of our school groups has to make the decision to put their family dog down after 17 years . She just posted to our group if we know of any books relating to this topic. She has several small children and needs to help them understand what is going on. I haven't seen any responses yet. And honestly, this is something I've ever had to deal with but I know she is hurting and this is tough for her.

This is such a great forum, I thought I'd ask here. Any suggestions?

Thanks Melinda, I'm passing this along. As I was writing the post I was thinking of Cynthia Rylant, because we enjoyed The Old Woman Who Named Things so much but had not heard of Dog Heaven
