I have a pair of pants that I purchased that fit great. I didn't realize that they were DRY CLEAN! I really don't want to dry clean them. Does any one have any experience in machine washing their dry clean recommended cloths?
The tags says that they are 95% Cotton and 5% Elastane. I would wash them on cold delicate and not put in the dryer.
What do you think???? HELP!!!!

oh, yes- all the time. I read once that manufacturers have to put at least one recommended method of cleaning on the tag. So there might be other ways to clean an item, but they put the best recommended way.
I have washed many a dry clean tag item. If an item can't go in the washer, it can't really live at my house . However, I always keep in mind that I could potentially ruin an item the first time I wash it.
Anything that is mainly wool I would not risk. But I would try the cotton pants- again, knowing I might have to take a loss. I have never "lost" anything, though. That has made me bold.

I'd wash it too. Since I wouldn't be able to wear the item anyway since it would never get cleaned otherwise.
the only dry clean only things we own are things like suits or jackets that you can get cleaned only once a year (or once every 2 years).

This is my exact delima! I can get dirty with little hands only seconds after having gotten dressed!
I did look at the fabric label before I brought the pants. I didn't think that cotton would be dry clean. I guess I didn't dig far enough into the pants to find the hidden label with the washing instructions. That brings up a pet peeve of mine, why do they have so many labels in clothing and why do they have to hide the washing instructions in the most inconvenient places. Anyway?!?
I think I will bravely wash them! And if they don't make it, I will chalk it up a lessons learned!
Thanks!!!

And the lowest spin setting!
I do wash wool in the machine. My washer has a wool setting and the more delicate the piece of clothing the less I spin it. Some items not at all.

YES! Elastane is just another name for spandex.

I was wondering about that. I figured that as long as I didn't cook it in the dryer I would be okay!
