Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For a long time we have struggled to have family prayer of a night. We tried, oh how we tried but often stumbled...often we were too tired, too.....

Of a morning we (children and I) would pray before lessons, mostly after dh had left for work. A collection of prayers, Morning Offering etc and a hymn.

But it has continued to bother us that we weren't praying consistently as a family. With dd18 now out the door before morning prayers most days it was bothering us anew. Anyhow dh has hit upon a great plan!! and after a fortnight I can report we are having great success.

Every morning we are waking the children for prayers at 6.45am and praying before morning showers and breakfast. We are managing at least three decades of the Rosary and our morning collection of prayers/hymn!! Dh and I are feeling so good

So all it took was a time change and something we have struggled with for years is working. It is also lending a great ryhtm to our day, getting those teens out of bed makes a difference    The first day they were told the plan the night before. When one teen didn't turn up until prayers were over I sweetly told him, "That's okay, you must have needed your sleep, you can catch up tonight by going to bed an hour earlier." worked a charm, no-one has been late again.

Anyone else found success with prayer life by any changes?

This is great, Erin!

Our oldest is changing our prayer life because she has become quite devout and is pulling us along with her. :) We would say morning prayers after breakfast before school, but it has been hit or miss for quite some time now. I was feeling quite lazy and sometimes even bothered by our daughter's request to say a rosary together - terrible! But, she was persistent and it's becoming easier and easier. We're not on a good schedule but often say it in the car or after dinner.

I like your new plan very much, the hymn, too! :)

Erin,

I am delighted that you have found a change in times has worked for your family prayer life.

We find just after breakfast works for us, for morning prayer time. .

I am ashamed to say, we have trouble with the Rosary, but if I set up the rosary and the Statue of our Lady at the dinner table, we pray the Rosary much more often., after the evening meal. Managing a few Rosaries a week.

Leanne

That is what we are doing now too Erin- we went and stayed at a monastery this summer and loved having prayers before our morning meal.

However, our prayers are at 8:30 before breakfast
