Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone see any good movies lately? The kids and I just watched I Am David and that is one GREAT movie!! Even my almost 4yr old sat through the whole thing!!! Its incredible to see how God puts small things in our paths to set us in the right direction.

If you haven't heard of it, the story is about a 12 yr old boy who escapes from a work camp in Belarus. He is told to go to Denmark with a letter and he's absolutely not allowed to open the letter and he has no money, no means of transportation or doesn't know any of the foreign languages but through God's Providence, he manages to make it. The end is really incredible!! I won't spoil it, though. Definitely a keeper!

Sorry, it's not a first hand recommendation, but I have to share that my mom and sister just saw The Dog of Flanders (1959 version) on Turner Classic Movies this week. They are raving about it.

We recently watched "Because of Winn Dixie" and all loved it. It inspired ds to read the book, which he also loved.

We just watched tht too -- I was expecting it to be a real "chick flick" aimed at the pre-pubescent teenie boppers and filled with lots of hip and today realities.

In fact, it was a great movie. All the family enjoyed it and it has a great message about not judging others and looking beyond your own problems and reaching out to others.....

Really a good one!

Oh, that thread is so old, it might have been hard to find . Besides, more movies are out now, and a new thread for a new season is a good thing.

Our family recently enjoyed The Secret of Roan Inish. The music in this film is terrific as well!

I keep looking at this movie and thinking I'd like it but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I just read another review and its actually directed by Michael Landon, Jr. It reminds me of Little House on the Prairie.

Not really kid movies...but dh husband and I just watched:

Cinderalla Man - excellent!!! I loved it even though I really hate boxing!
The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio - very, very good, especially if you have read the book. Julieanne Moore was fantastic!
Walk the Line - a little slower than I thought and I usually don't watch movies that I know adultery is involved, but this was very good as well. I was so impressed with the singing by the two lead actors - can't even think of their names - they were amazing!

Thanks for bringing up Cinderella Man. I have not seen it, but our priest said a homily centered around that movie awhile back, (as an example of the difference between vocation and avocation) so I've been wanting to see it. I had forgotten about it until reading this. I'll have to remember to add it to my Netflix list.

I'm so excited (ok, maybe I need to get out more) but our library has "I Am David" and "Love Comes Softly" -- I've requested both. They should help our weekend -- getting ready to close on the house next week, we have most stuff packed up -- separated in my dh's neat piles of "goes to Austria", "goes to Nana's for storage", "goes to farm for storage" and "goes to Salvation Army".   I'm just assuming the right things are marked the right things....as I do have to finish the year of homeschooling out at Nana's in May.... !
