Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

With the onset of the raining season here, it has my oldest wondering *why* it rains. There are a few websites for children the I've found that does an average job of explaining our water cycle, but what I'd really like is to get my hands on a good BOOK! Any recommendations?

Usborne books are always a hit around here ... wondering if they might have one .

Busy Water by Irma Simonton Black is a FANTASTIC picture book for talking about rain and the water cycle! But....it's out of print. HOWEVER...I found it here for you to print - for free!!!    So, print away and read! It's a great picture book!!

Another excellent living science book for covering rain and water cycles is Glenn Blough's Not Only For Ducks: The Story of Rain. It's out of print, but you might still find it at the library, and if not, it isn't usually too expensive to track down. Excellent illustrations and would need to be read in more than one sitting, but makes a fantastic study of rain and water cycles for elementary students.

I have this one on the way! With all of the rain we get here, I thought it would be appropriate. Anyway, I got it from Abebooks for only a few dollars (like maybe 4 dollars), with free shipping.

I wanted to add two that we have which are very gentle picture books the kids have enjoyed. A Drop of Water by Gordon Morrison and One Well The Story of Water on Earth by Rockelle Strauss (this one has more facts on the sides).

Two I like:
The Snowflake: A Water Cycle Story- from the perspective of a snowflake, not rain, but very nicely done.
A Drop of Water: A Book of Science and Wonder - addresses the water cycle, but more generally a fascinating look at water and it's properties.
