Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

...to read with a K-1st grader where you just pull them into your lap and really enjoy reading with them?

What are your favorites? We found an old Misericordia 1st grade reader and my dd gets so thoughtful and cute when reading it with me and asks the sweetest questions. I really want to keep this going... I am talking any subject...nature study, history, catechism...lit...whatever...
Ah! I LOVE this age!!

TIA!!

Oh, I do love this age, too, Donna Marie!!! It is a really sweet age for reading aloud together!

Favorites:

All of the Lynd Ward books, especially with my boys

Snipp, Snapp, Snurr and the Flicka, Ricka, Dicka series of books

All the Virginia Lee Burton books

Sara Squirrel and the Lost Acorns by Julie Sykes - all time FAV!!!

We have recently discovered the author/illustrator team of Selina Chonz (author) and Alois Carigiet (illustrator) and have just become smitten with their books. The writing and illustrations are so captivating. I'd love to collect more. We have, A Bell for Ursli, Florina and the Wild Bird and The Pear Tree, the Birch Tree and the Barberry Bush (authored and illustrated by Carigiet).

And....many of our favorites have always been, and remain, our little collection of vintage Golden Books. My little people just love these stories! The Good Little Bad Little Girl, We Help Mommy, We Help Daddy, Pussy Willow, ABC Rhymes....and many more! These are delights for us!
