Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are on week 2 of MODG K and I've been a little bit all over the place with trying to help my son learn numbers 11-25. I thought he had a better handle on them until we got to MODG K. I first turned to Lakeshore and purchased a math game and turned to a montessori 100 board and a poster and he knows the song 10-20-30...100. But he, I realize now, doesn't have a visual on the song as we sing but he knows it by heart. Then I realized that the instructions in MODG K are to go through the flash cards just 1-10 and see how he does - he did great! Then just do 11-15 and he has trouble with 12, 13, and 15 I think because we don't say two-teen and three-teen and five-teen. He gets 11, he has that down. He seemed interested and I did just 16-20 and he did great until we got to 20 since 16-19 you just say the 2nd number and then add the word teen on to it. Well I know time will help him. Anyway to help him come up to speed more quickly please? He tired before we got to 21-25 and so we stopped. We had used these flash cards before but they were all in perfect order. This time I grouped them 1-10 but jumbled and then 11-15 jumbled, then 16-20 jumbled. Any ideas? Thank you!

and to add to this, my son can count from 1-25 but when I add the visual of showing what the number looks like then he gets thrown off. Just like he can sing the sound 10-20-30-....10 but when he sees the numbers he gets thrown off. I know time and repetition will heal this but any suggestions? Thank you!

I only did MODG K with my oldest. But I just did steady and gradual card work as I recall and he just got it. Sorry, boring answer.

We switched then to Right Start math... and she does that all in a different manner since she has you count with them "one ten -one (for eleven), one ten- two... (for twelve).... two-ten (for twenty)" She switches to the way we say it later in the year. Both ways MODG and RS... a little every day and my kids got it.

With my k-1st kids I have done number families.   The teen family, the twenty family, etc.....if the kids are stumped, I would say, for the number 25, "remember, look at this 2, this number is in the twenty family". It has always seemed to help them get an "eye" for the numbers.
Maybe this is something your could try.
