Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have at least 14 million mostly disorganized photos! I'm not up to thinking about scrapbooking at this stage, but I do want to organize them by date so that they'll be in some sensible kind of order for putting into albums. I know less than nothing about the proper care and feeding of photos. What kind of container/filebox (?) is best? Where do I begin?
Help! I'm drowning in memories!

Peace,
Nancy

they make photo safe boxes (like shoe box size).. and those would probably be easiest for initial sorting and storing.

I read a great idea from "Memory Makers" years ago. Sort your photos by year first, then break them down by month or season, whichever you prefer. You can pull out favoites and put into an album right away to enjoy (ie. an album with a pocket per photo so you can just slip the photos in). File the other photos in labeled photo safe boxes when they are sorted.

You can search online and find more tips.

Good luck!

Nancy,

We are having the same issue here but the problem I am having is all of the large pictures, you know the 5x7 and larger that don't fit into those neat boxes I have from scrapbooking. We are now in the process of scanning the most precious. We started with the few that we have from my parents and grandparents that were sent from Cuba. We don't have much because when my paternal grandparents realized that they were going to have to flee, my grandmother found a set of 30-40 pictures and sent them to her sister here in Miami. Those are the only pictures we have from my Dad's side of the family.

I am trying to get the pictures in some sort of chronological order and that is really hard when no one wrote on the back or now knows who is in the picture

We have a Stand alone - z drive which we are scanning all our older photos into.
Its time cosuming but it will be worth it.

I like Marys idea of filing them by year and then season.
When we were in the Uk visiting Dhs parents, I spend hours sorting out photos and putting them into albums.
I write on the back of all our photos. This helps me file them where they need to be.
Good luck, its worth while.
