Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

as geography, right?

I recently discovered that we can watch episodes on Hulu since we do not have cable. My kids love it. It occurs to me it is a pretty fun way to learn about different areas of the country as well as different architectural styles.

Right?

Be careful. I used to be an avid HGTV fan - I loved House Hunters and Designed to Sell, etc. However, it seemed that more often than not, the "couple" looking for a home or re-decorating a home were not a traditional couple. And, if you think you could pass it off as roommates, then they are sure to show the "couple's" master bedroom. Very disheartening.

Yes, so frustrating! The agenda on these channels pushes this kind of thing all the time! We refuse to watch any time a couple like this is featured. It makes me so .

But we also enjoy all these locations and learning a bit of geography, too, Melinda!

Yes, so true....

I was just thinking that between the commercials and the "loose" idea of being a couple, the potential is somewhat diminished. Rats.

I love House Hunters International. It is my favorite. Although it does sometimes depress me since we never get to travel abroad anymore.....

Thanks for the tip. Do you still get some of the undesirable commercials with it?

Did you see the episode of the American Family trying to find a house to live in France for a year with their (I think) 6 children? She has a blog, Design Mom, and I do think they homeschool.

JennGM, I caught the tail end of that one. I was thinking that I wished I had seen the whole episode.

Sadly, the "couples" that they use for HH are something that I need to watch. I just don't let the kids watch the ones that I don't want them to see. I like the geography aspect of it all. I find it interesting to see how other cultures live.

HH International is my source of vicarious travel.    But I do need to dvr it and check out just who the searching people are! I had it on one evening, not noticing who was in the room, when 13yods asked "Why are there two men buying a house?" and 9yods said, "That other guy is the one who shows the houses." It ended there. They didn't catch the part about "my partner."

It is frustrating that a home real estate show has become one that needs to be dvr'd and watched after dc go to bed!

It does look as though, if you were terribly interested, that you could go to HGTV's website and pick the appropriate shows and watch online.
