Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We sent our teen daughter to the local school last year for 10th grade as an experiment. She wanted to 'try it,' she said. We told her that if any attitudes or behavior for the worse, she would have to come home to school.

She loved it. We did not, for what it did to her academics, for her laissez-faire attitude, but most of all for her new liberal tendencies.

I know we made the right choice to take her back home. She is fighting it. She wants society and our homeschool group tends to shrink instead of grow. However, that is the *only* reason (besides the distractions we like to call kids ) she can articulate for wanting to school out of the home.

I really can't tolerate another difficult year. Please pray with me that her heart softens, that she sees the wisdom in our choice, and that she accepts ... embraces, even ... that which she cannot change.

Oh goodness, Tina. Praying your year is covered in grace and that Our Lady assists you in meeting her needs and ministering to the challenges as they present themselves!

May the year upcoming be blessed!

A freind pulled her always schooled girl out of the public school near high school age. She has done fine, after a little bit of a rough start. You'll get through. Make sure she has an activity to get out and be with peers. (a few hours a week helps get the "peer" thing addressed yet isn't as bad as being in school all day ) We'll pray things get easier soon....

I am sending up prayers for you and your daughter. I hope the transition can be as smooth as possible. You are doing the right thing! God will give you the grace to handle this.

I remember when my younger sibling went to school and then was pulled out for a really bad attitude. Sibling did eventually come around and could see in hindsight. Prayers as you struggle through this time.

Dear Tina, praying! Uniting my prayers with yours for our teens. Remembering our children's souls and attitudes is something that society often forgets. It is the most important! Praying for softening of the heart. Well done Mom and Dad. ( I say this because so many teens are going to school in our area just because of the social thing which is one of the reasons why we home school.) I sent my daughter to art class at PS this year and was very unimpressed with the social atmosphere.
Praying!

Tina, I have a dear young friend and mom in a similar situation. This year, next year the dd is going to school for 1 or 2 classes (electives). These are being presented as a privilege that must be earned by doing well at home and at school. This dd is VERY social and is eager to keep her privileges next year. We'll see! You're not alone in this struggle and I'm praying for you. Pray for my friends, OK?

Love,

My daughter was playing my husband and I against each other. She 'pretended' to go along with my desire to homeschool because she didn't want to hurt my feelings, but then when I was not present, railed on my husband about how much she hated homeschooling. He did not know what she was doing on my end and so accused me of being controlling and I didn't understand how anti-homeschool she was. I felt like my husband was unjustly railing on me and life was just SUCH a mess until I found out the truth. It ended up she hurt me more by trying to save my being hurt.

All of this to say that my husband decided that, for the health of the family, she should go to school. She has a list of goals she wants to accomplish, we're encouraging better grades (honor roll) with rewards such as dinner out with Mom and Dad, and she wants to get a job, all of which will tame her wilder side. She needs society and activities, but she's got to prioritize.

Father, I leave my life (and those of my husband and children) in your hands.

Many prayers sent your way, I am going through something comparable to your situation right now. It's so hard to let go and let God, in everything.

I pray for His will to be done for your family.
