My oldest (with alopecia areata) is losing all her hair again after having a year or so of good growth. As she is now 13 it is hitting her harder than in the past -- although she is still SOOO good and strong about it, considering. I covet your prayers for her. She has so many other issues to deal with that this is a big straw on the camels back.

She does have two kinds of wigs - one full wig and one that only works under a hat...but they are both hot and kind of itchy. Especially in the summer she hates to wear them.

Thanks for donating to L of L! We don't meet the eligibility requirements so our wigs came out of pocket, but it is such a blessing for those who need it!

I'm not sure, Jenn, although I have heart anecdotally that hormones can either make it worse or better.    I mean, some kids start having problems in puberty and others that had problems as a child outgrow it then too.   My dd has always gone through periods of growth and loss, so that doesn't seem unusual to us, although this loss is coinciding with big hormonal changes in her.
