Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would love to start making some nice rosaries with my kids for presents (sacraments, birthdays, anniversaries).

Any tips to get started?
I'd like to use wire because all the ones I've made with string haven't lasted long. What size/kind wire do you use?

Bead caps for Our Father beads? I've seen these on several rosaries lately and they are lovely. Any tips on those?

Where to buy supplies? Any online stores that have inexpensive yet good quality supplies in one spot? Or would i need to order from several stores?

Any special tools you have found are helpful?

Spacer beads- what size do you use?

Hmm I guess that's it ;>)

thanks!

Hello. I have been making rosaries for about 10 years and get pretty much all of my supplies from Lewis and Company, www.rosaryparts.com. They have a very good selection and the prices are pretty good too. The only thing I find difficult is that they charge a blanket s/h charge no matter how much your order is. This is great if you have a large order but if you just need a $1 center or something, it's not. So, I always make sure and double check my order to make sure I'm not missing something. I don't usually use wire to wrap my own but I use the eye pins they sell. These hold together well but are easier and much less time consuming.
In Christ, Heather

Heather's suggestion for Lewis and COmpsay is good. They are probably the premier US rosary parts copay - been a round a long time. Good supply and reliable. We have used them.

I'm not sure still what kind of rosary you are wanting to make.   Heather describes making the traditional looking rosaries (using eye pins) - that is what my daughter does as well. But a lot of the women here that feature their rosaries do the stringing method (though with wire not string as you mentioned). So when you are looking for supplies the style matters. If you use eye pins ou need spcial pliers fo trhe bead work.

Another place we like to oder from is Madonna Catholic Supply Company. They don't sell eye pins for that style of rosary, but do have so many different rosary centers, crucifixes and medals. We then just get our eye pins locally at craft and beading stores. We love the mini medals & crucifixes from Madonna Shops which my daughter uses for lovely rosary braclets. They have a graduated shipping rate so vries with size of order.

If you're not looking for specialized pieces, I recommend Autom. They're super affordable, and that's what I'm looking for (although their selection is not the best and you have to order in bulk). I order their crucifixes and centers for great prices. If you watch their facebook page, they offer free shipping from time to time, so I try to stock up on stuff then.
