Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently read How to Keep a Naturalist's Notebook by Susan Leigh Tomlinson. I really learned at lot from this book! Now, my 10 yr old son is enjoying it. It has a lot of specific, basic information for those of us who are not at all artistically inclined, including:

exactly what to put in a field bag
how to use and buy binoculars
how to choose a sketch book
specifics and exercises on how to use watercolor pencils
sketching basics
basics on field identification

We are combining this resource with Tin Cups and Tinder.

I plan to post on my blog our specific plans in a few days if anyone wants to see them for ideas :).

Thanks for the link Caroline. I've read the Clare Walker Leslie Keeping a Nature Journal. I like how you combine the Naturalist Notebook with Tin Cups and Tinder. I bought TCandT and couldn't quiet figure out how to implement it this lovely book. And the Naturalist NOtebook has some great topics too. Now I have some thoughts

Bumping this up. My library finally got a copy of this book and I get to pore over and make our plans. Timing is terrific because I need to plan our Nature Club for our local homeschool group.
