Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am hoping to do some old-fashioned sentence diagramming with my boys. (I am one of those people who loved diagramming sentences.)

A lot of the resources I have seen have moved away from this approach. What is your favorite resource for teaching and practicing sentence diagramming?

I wish I had my old High School grammar book but alas, it seems it did not make it to our basement.

Thanks,

Maybe you can buy one online? I have an old high school grammar book (Warriner's) and it has diagramming. (It is from the late 1970's.)

I wanted to diagram when I was in school because Laura Ingalls knew how to do it. And it's great for visual learners.

I am so glad I am not the only person who loved diagramming sentences!

I'll be watching here, but as I recall, I think I used to have a book on diagramming that I got through Seton Home School... I think Kolbe might have a solid grammar book with diagramming too.

Me too, it's so cool!

I'll second Nancy's recommendation of Warriner's. Mother of Divine Grace and Seton use it for high school comp so may be the one you are thinking of, too, Ann.

Mary Daly (Ye Hedge School) is a Catholic home educator who has written some very good books on diagraming sentences. She has a very very basic getting started workbook for those unfamiliar with diagramming at all and then a more complex one.

Thanks so much! That is the same grammar book I had in high school!

I am going to look into Mary Daly's book, too.
