We've moved away from Texas and into my in laws home temporarily while we wait for a house at Ft Campbell. John left today for about a 10 month deployment to Afghanistan. He is an apache pilot and I am storming heaven for a hedge of protection around him from all sides and asking Mary to cover him in her mantle. I am aching all over after kissing him goodbye in the parking lot and driving back to Ga. On top of that, a little part of me asked God for" just one more" before he left but I guess I am not ready yet and the timing is all wrong. My heart is so broken still from losing Matthew. But God knows best and I have to trust in His Divine wisdom.
Please know I am still praying for all of your intentions here and tear up and rejoice silently with every posting I read. Depression is so much a part of my daily life. I am trying so hard to put on a smile. My kids really do help me and I am praying we can get a house by the end of summer. Having some routine back will help us I think while we wait for his return.

Oh, Emily...
Wow, do I know how you feel. We've survived some lengthy deployments and I am sure you'll agree that there is no such thing as a "good" time to deploy.
I am thankful you have family close by. They'll be there to help you with mundane, broken-car type problems, and you'll need that.
The first and last six weeks of a deployment have always been most difficult for me. Once I have a routine going, I can manage fairly well...just doing the basics...but those last six weeks are six centuries long.
Emily, please PM me at any time if you want to vent, need prayers or just want to bounce something off a fellow military mom. Our blessings are framed in sorrows, in a way it's sometimes hard for civilian wives/moms to understand.
You and yours are in my prayers, right up to and beyond the moment, ten months from now, when I read your "John is home!" post.
I mean this...100%. I wish I lived closer to you so I could help in a more substantial way. Please know I'll help in any way I can during this stressful time for your family.

Thank you so much for your family's sacrifice for our nation. I will pray that your husband will return home safely and that you and the kids will get through the deployment as easily as possible. I can't even imagine having to go through that. God bless you.
