Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am seeking a new swim outfit for my son. I have a friend who is going to graciously purchse it - but doesn't where to go! And I know you ladies will have lots of ideas for me

I want a top and a bottom, or a one-piece that he can easily (independently) get on/off. He's a small 7 year old. He prefers long-sleeves for the top and trunks that are knee-length. Preferably slightly loose fitting so there is hope it will last two summers (longer top and drawstring on the shorts should take care of that...)

I'm happy paying someone to make something to order as well. I sew - but swim fabric is not my thing!

Any ideas?

Walmart has trunk-style swim shorts, and any lightweight T would work for the top. I'd try not to get anything too thick that might weigh him down on top when it gets wet. We use the rash-guard type swim shirts here to protect against sun and sand, but I've only seen those in short-sleeved styles for the boys.

I think LLBean has long sleeve for boys. We bought those for two sizes a few years back and then found one that sort of matched them at Costco last year and shied everyone up, lol. Not sure about their trunks. We have an assortment of hand me downs we pair with the rash guard shirts.

I checked, and yes, LLBean still carries the long sleeve shirts and cordinating shorts like you describe. Ours have been able to be worn more than one year, and they've Ben in circulation for a while and still look great. However, we have not done the pool thing regularly.

I second Lands End! I purchased my son's swim trunks and rash guard top from them last summer. The tops are not only more modest, but really cut down on sunburn.

Look in the Lands End Overstocks first. They had put a lot of boys swim stuff in there a few days ago, and the prices were very good, especially with the extra 30% off.

This past week at Walmart I also saw sun protective boys swimwear, tops and bottoms, with UPF 50. They seemed very nice- my ds liked the shark swim trunks. No long sleeves for the top though- just elbow length.
