Kingdoms and Domains: An Illustrated Guide to the Phyla of Life on Earth
Can anyone comment on this book? Read it? Seen it? Used it with your high schooler?
This is the 4th edition, and it's on my short list for high school biology. I'd love to hear thoughts if you have any.

Adding one other request -
If you know of another good living book that is appropriate for high school which covers this topic - kingdoms and domains - please do make suggestions.

Jen,
Have you ever heard of Priscilla Spears This is her site big Picture Science. She makes many materials for the Montessori community. I remember people talking about how current her work was when I was following closely the Montessori community a few years ago.
I haven't seen the book you have mentioned.
I HTH! I have one of her books...somewhere. I have been re-arranging my shelves and I can't find it ATM Ah, that is the story of my life... ...

This is an updated edition of the classic text "Five Kingdoms".
I haven't seen the revised edition yet, but I do own a copy of the older version, Five Kingdoms.
My opinion--as far as texts go it is accurate, well organized and comprehensive.
Readability? Pretty dry. I use it only as a reference. But it is a good one, and to have the updated domains info would be great.

The old one is definitely dry- I think the information can be found in a much more interesting way!

Hey - Thanks all for chiming in!
I think what I'm going to do is use some resources I found online to build an understanding in this area.
I'll share the links I found in case anyone else searches and is interested:Kingdoms of Life Classification Project - there is a chart provided as well as instruction. This could be a great ongoing project to keep organized in a Biology notebook for the year as different organisms are introduced and learned. Great support/informational links on this page. Principles of Classification - this site offers very accessible information and explanations. I like that many of the multi-syllabic words have buttons next to them so you can hear the pronunciation!!
If you have any other ideas/resources to share on Kingdoms/Domains, please add them!
