Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just bought around 20 Landmark books (from 1950s-60s) from the WTM board. They just came in the mail today - I'm so excited! Here is the list:

Rogers' Rangers and the French and Indian War
The Louisiana Purchase
The Barbary Pirates
The Monitor and the Merrimac
Royal Canadian Mounted Police
George Washington
Franklin D. Roosevelt
The Story of Ellis Island
The French Foreign Legion
The Fall of Constantinople
The Crusades
Custer's Last Stand
The West Point Story
The Building of the First Trans. RR
Guadal Canal Diary
The Copper Kings of Montana
The Santa Fe Trail
The Winter at Valley Forge
Mr. Bell Invents the Telephone
The California Gold Rush
Alexander the Great
Daniel Boone
Lee and Grant at Appomattox
Will Shakespeare and the Globe Theater
The Marquis De Lafayette
Davy Crockett
Paul Revere and the Minute Men

Can anyone tell me which ones they recommend from this list, if any? Thanks!

Fantastic find! I have never been disappointed by a single one of the Landmark books.

Just for your reference - here is a list of all the Landmark books:

I think you'll be quite enthusiastic about your find if you check out this thread discussing the Landmark Book series!!!

Enjoy your fabulous books, Michele!

LOL, I guess I am about 1/16 of the way to getting the entire collection. I won't count on that.

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Perfect! My son is only entering kindergarten, but I may read them myself now while I have the time.

(And now I'm kicking myself for not asking our local h/s friend to order some binding glue when she placed the order at the Vernon Library Supplies store. :)

Oh, and one question...how much would you pay for a single volume? I got them all for $35, which included ~$12 shipping. I was surprised that they were that cheap. I assume if I want to add to the collection, they would normally run about $10 each, but I have no idea.

I'm going to take this list to my bookshelf and see which ones I have/am missing!

Peace,
Nancy

I think you paid a very fair price, Michele! I have paid $10 for a Landmark book before (because it was one I wanted my son to read right away), but I'd probably never pay more than $10. I can usually find them in the $4 - $6 range....sometimes less.
