Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm really enjoying this meal planning service. I got six months for half off through Plum Deals, but I think that it is probably worth the full price, $5 a month, for us.

I'd really lost my rhythm for meals over the past few months, and I wanted to get us back track with healthy eating. I've always been intrigued by such services, but so many rely on prepackaged and processed foods. These are all fresh ingredients, and only 20 items to shop for each week for five meals. The recipes are veery simple, but everything we've done so far the boys have LOVED, and they have recommended things you can prep ahead of time listed, and they reuse parts of things in a different way later in the week for a different meal.

My only complaint is that the recipes are not for those who never cook (e.g.,you need to knowtorinse quinoa before cooking), and she's all into low fat so every dairy product is specified low fat. It's easy enough to modify and use full fat instead, though, and since the total a amount of ingredients needed for all dishes (like x cups chicken stock or x cans white beans) is on the master grocery list, it makes it easy to make those things from scratch earlier in the week if I want. Since the recipes are so simple, it is easy to avoid Hidden allergens, preservatives, etc...

AND, she has a gluten free option [ ;)] , which I haven't tried, but I imagine is good.

Just thought others might be interested. My family is definitely a fan so far, and it is meals that feel "fancy" but are not complicated, especially the sides. I would probably have never made apple slaw on my own, but it was very easy to put together ( just chopped apple, cucumber, onions, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a smidge of sucanat), and my boys RAVED.

Plus there is usually a seafood option, and I just swap it to Friday.

That sounds really fun. But I don't shop that way and I'd probably spend more time "fixing" than it would be worth.

But it still sounds like fun.

Lindsay, does she have any sample menus? I didn't see anything on her website. I'm really interested in this.

There is a box on the right side where you can sign up for the e-mail and get their three day mini-week sample.

Here's my dream meal planner -

A knowledgable, kind lady walks around the grocery store with me as we look at everything. I point out all the items I like or am willing to try (or don't know what they are used for). Then she creates a months worth of meals based on the season, the foods I pointed out, low cost, and planned to take advantage of larger cooking sessions (not necessarily freezer cooking, but more like browning all the ground beef for that week's meals on Sunday).

Oh, and I forgot. She does all this for free!

Okay, I'll stop the crazy talk now.

I once tried Saving Dinner, and I like some of their freezer menus. I'm in a rut right now, so I need to crack open the recipes and find some new menus. Thanks for the link!
