Spin off of the Hymn's thread found here.
Here's a silly question, what are traditional hymns in the Catholic church? I'm new to the church, so I'm not sure. I know traditional hymns from my Baptist background:
Amazing Grace, Go Tell It On The Mountain, Sweet By and By, Just As I Am, etc., but I'm not sure about the Catholic church.
Just curious.

"Traditional" can be interpreted to mean different things, but I'll go ahead and add a few songs that I remember singing as a child and that I remember the grandmas singing then. I'll just list a few songs of Mary, because they are among my favorites:

That is a tricky question. I remember taking a survey at Mass and thinking that "traditional" for me (born in the late '70s) is "On Eagles Wings" and "One Bread, One Body". LOL For my dad (born in 1940), the answer would be completely different.
But we Catholics tend to steal some of the best Protestant traditionals: Amazing Grace, Go Tell It on the Mountain, Shall We Gather at the River?

Very tricky question.
Originally, in the Catholic Mass, there were no hymns, but supposed to have Gregorian chant for the various Introit, etc. Over time this has been blurred a bit, so we don't see a clear picture of what it's supposed to be.
There were hymns for other things, like Benediction, Novenas, other Eucharistic devotions, and like Angie said, Marian devotions. These weren't always "liturgical", but there are many.
There's an enjoyable book Why Catholics Can't Sing that gives a (amusing and sometimes opinionated) history of singing in the Church. Not everyone would agree.
If you pick up a hymnal in a Catholic Church, usually at the bottom of the pages there is information on the history of the hymn, who wrote, etc. Many hymns have been borrowed from Protestant sources over the years.
Stabat Mater (At the Cross Her Station Keeping)
O Sacred Head Surrounded
All Glory Laud and Honor
Holy God We Praise Thy Name
Come Holy Ghost
Jesus, Jesus, Come to Me
Soul of My Savior
O Salutaris Hostia
Tantum Ergo
And I think Faith of Our Fathers might be a Catholic hymn, but I'm not sure.
Those are a few that come to mind. There's a project trying to find the English hymns in the public domain and you can view a list here, including downloadable .pdfs with the music.

Yes, "Faith of Our Fathers" was written by Father Faber about the English Catholic martyrs--one of my favorites. 
The Adoremus Hymnal has a good selection of what most would consider "traditional Catholic hymns."

If you really want to see truly, traditional Catholic hymns check out this site. It is VERY Catholic conservative on the music front.

I agree on that, too! St. Michael's Hymnal is another good one.
This one is OOP, but if you can find a copy, quite handy, Cantate et Iubilate Deo by Midwest Theological Forum.
