Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is this week's Mystery Class data.

We'll add this week's calculations as they are reported.

Mystery Class #1: 12 hours 48 minutes
Mystery Class #2: 11 hours 50 minutes
Mystery Class #3: 15 hours 44 minutes
Mystery Class #4: 11 hours 40 minutes
Mystery Class #5: 12 hours 39 minutes
Mystery Class #6: 11 hours 28 minutes
Mystery Class #7: 12 hours 52 minutes
Mystery Class #8: 11 hours 25 minutes
Mystery Class #9: 12 hours 12 minutes
Mystery Class #10: 11 hours 12 minutes

I've filled in the data that wasn't reported in blue so that it is available for those who are trying to graph all locations. So if something has come up and you aren't able to get to the JN data right now, I'll still continue to post mid-week so it will be available.

Hi, thanks for posting this week's thread, Suzanne.

# 3 is 15 hours and 44 minutes.

Caroline reported to me that #2 was 11 hours, 50 minutes.

And Betty has been unable to continue with JN right now, so we're calculating that one, too - 11 hours, 20minutes.

I thought this week it would be good for everyone to post anything they have inferred about the location of their mystery class (approx. latitude, northern or southern hemisphere? etc.). Since we will be getting information about determining approx. longitude next week. So if we make sure we all have an idea of latitude this week, then with the upcoming longitude clue we should be able to have a general point (country/region) of our location to start narrowing down.

I'll start for # 3:
Our photoperiod started at 24 hours of daylight so we knew it was at or near the South Pole - definitely in the Antarctic region. Since it did start dropping in the second week we figured it couldn't be more than 75 degrees south, since everything within that circle still would have been getting 24 hours of sunlight. Our estimate is around the Antarctic circle - probably a bit south of it.

Thanks, Suzanne for calculating our photoperiod for this week and posting it above!

Our Mystery Site #5 started with a photoperiod of 13 hrs and 18 min. Our graphed line has slowly been moving upward indicating less sun overall during the day for our mystery site. This means a shorter photoperiod for our site as we approach March equinox. Because of that, we guess that our mystery site is south of the equator. Because our line indicates a consistent, steady change in photoperiod, we're guessing that our site is not near the equator, but maybe between 30 and 35 degrees latitude. That gives us South America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and some islands to consider.

The kids really enjoy seeing how the graphed lines relate...especially Mary's line which is WAAAAAY up there!!

I corrected #9's location.....it was listed at 12 hours 48 minutes. But, it is 12 hours 12 minutes

Yes, it certainly is. I duplicated #1 for some reason. Thanks.

Since Betty isn't doing #10 any longer I'll take that one on for a latitude estimate.   It has been increasing in daylight as well so it is in the Northern Hemisphere. We compared it to the photoperiods we were getting in Denver - they are pretty close but the mystery class photoperiods are a little longer each day than ours are. Since the location already has longer days, we know it has a more southern latitude than ours. Denver is about 39 degrees so we are guessing this is more like mid-30s in latitude.
