Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been looking for ergonomic crochet hooks. One that I purchased (by Clover) wasn't quite what I expected (it doesn't grab the yarn very well)...others online seem rather expensive or involve an international purchase. Lo and behold, I was looking at our toothbrushes and inspiration struck! (I just love it when that happens...it compensates somewhat for ALL the memory loss and aches & pains associated with being part of the "shh-I'm-getting-older-but-let's-not-talk-about-it-too-much- crowd") I asked ds's to cut the brush portion off an older toothbrush, down to the part of the handle that could accomodate a Boye metal crochet hook inserted in a hole. First we looked at the slant of the toothbrush with the crochet hook held beside it, to guage where to cut and how the hook and handle would line up properly for the best angle, then they drilled a proper sized hole in the remaining toothbrush handle! They then cut the Boye hook down, leaving approx. 1 inch beneath the flaired section with the size listed on it, added a little super glue to keep it snug in place, then inserted it in our new ergonomic handle. Voila! A new crochet hook that's arthritis and carpal tunnel friendly and it didn't cost a thing! (I think the brand of toothbrush might have been Colgate or Oral B...it had a slanted, curved handle, with grip slots on the back) I just love "using what we have", as a dear friend always says!!!

Use it up, where it out, make it do, or do without.

What a great way to do that! sounds comfortable, too

That is the neatest idea I've heard in a *long* time! I love it!
