Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

or at least it feels that way.. sorta.. kinda.

Apparently we have the book "St. George and the Dragon" by Margaret Hodges. And I had no clue we had it. I was putting it on my wish list at Amazon and the kids said.. mom, we have that book.. and then went and found it and brought it to me. It's not perfect.. the back cover has a bit of problem.. but for a "free book" it's not bad at all

That's funny, Jodie! I'm always finding "free" items about the house that I've forgotten we had!!! One good thing about losing your memory, is it makes so many things seem new again!!!! Thanks for the laugh!

Hey, good deal! For me it usually works the other way - I read a description of a book that sounds perfect, buy it, and then find out I'd bought it last year as well.

Peace,
Nancy

This is why I love Amazon...if I order something I already purchased, it tells me!! Gotta love that!!

I think this is an occupational hazard of schooling many children over many years. For the first ten years or so, you can remember all of the books you have. Then, either there get to be so many books or you start getting so distracted with family matters or...don't say it...you start getting (shhh!) older and you no longer remember what you have or where you have it!

The great thing is that when you go to order new books for the new year, you discover you already own them.

It must have been a book we were given. Something that I glanced at and let the kids have.. I never ordered it off amazon.

I was adding it to my wish list because it's in the Catholic Mosaic book list I think.. plus my son has chosen St. George for Confirmation.

So it was really a surprise not the.. oh yeah I forgot we had that.

Caroline, as a somewhat senior member of the shhh-please-don't-say-it!-yes-we're-getting-older-group, I can attest to the constant struggle to remember what we have and where-oh-where have I put it!? We spent many painful minutes recently, searching for an important paper, that I had vowed to preserve for safe-keeping...BOTH dh and I remembered seeing it the day before (on our dining table)...no one in the entire household could recall touching it or moving it from its place on the table!!! After an agonizing search and many prayers to St. Anthony, lo and behold, I had tucked it away, in a most unlikely spot (but, one that actually made sense, once we discovered its "hiding place")! If St. Anthony can help us locate a single piece of paper, in spite of my feeble, addled old brain, I'm praying he'll also allow any and ALL duplicate books to resurface BEFORE I complete the coming year's book order! I've revisited our wishlists so many times, and borrowed so many books from the library in preparation, that I get quite befuddled trying to sort it all out, especially after doing this for twenty years....it's no small wonder that we end up with a few books in duplicate, or even triplicate!!! DS has already saved me from adding several books to our wishlist just today...library book sale purchases that I had long forgotten! One consolation...when you have married dc, they're often quite happy to receive those "extra" copies that crop up here, there and everywhere!!! I've been seriously considering purchasing more than one copy of a few choice books this year, in anticipation of the time when dc still at home begin their own home libraries! Time and the pocketbook will tell whether I'm able to indulge such a whim! Vehicle and appliance breakdowns, along with far too many unexpected expenses, always seem to whittle away our homeschool book budget, even encroaching on the grocery budget at times! Ah well, we'll just stay home a lot, fast more and read lots & lots of old books, if I can remember where they all are!!!

Jodie, your St. George and the Dragon book is one of those "pennies from Heaven" kind of blessings! The illustrator of that book is a personal favorite...hope ds enjoys it!
