I know that fertility usually goes down after 35. Less pregnancies and more miscarriages. I will be 38 in June. I had a miscarriage three days ago, my third loss. I have five living children.
My children were born when I was 20, 25, 28, 32 and 36. I had losses when I was 32 (5w6d), 35 (11w6d) and 37 (10w0d). With both my 11w6d and 10w0d losses, I saw a heartbeat at 6-7 weeks, and then baby stopped growing at some point later.
Does anyone have any insight for me, or similar experiences? I have been nursing a toddler or older child when I conceived all but my oldest. It seems that the children I conceive before 3 years spacing are the ones I lose. I do not know if this has any reason, or is just a coincidence.
My husband and I are in shock right now and looking for any answers, knowing, of course, that God is the only one in charge.
I am wondering if I am destined to just miscarry any babies I conceive from now on. Does this happen sometimes? It seems weird to me. I would think, if the problem is chromosomal, that at some point a *good* egg would make the cut.
The dr does not consider me a habitual miscarrier, I don't think, because I had a m/c, then my 5 year old, then a m/c, then my 18-month-old, then this m/c. So, they are *isolated* incidents. Does this seem right?
Someone mentioned calling the Paul VI center for advice on avoiding m/c. I know that there is no *magic* pill or formula. I have heard of using progesterone, but in the cases I have had, two had heartbeats. Could progesterone have helped them survive?
Where would I get more information??
Thank you to all of you!!!!

I don't have any advice for you, but I do want you to know that you are in my prayers.

progesterone isn't a magic pill.. but if the problem is low progesterone it is possible that taking it will help maintain a pregnancy.
the down turn of progesterone production when you're not pregnant is what causes your period to happen.
Those I know who use this.. will take progesterone after they ovulate until the end of their cycle and only stop if they have not gotten a positive pregnancy test.
But there is certainly other reasons.. and sometimes no reason.

This is exactly what I am wondering. My two miscarriages happened after having 8 babies with absolutely no problems. I am 43, soon to be 44. I have two friends who experienced opposite results using progesterone. Both babies had heartbeats. One friend started spotting, went on progesterone right away and all was fine. The other was on progesterone pre-pregnancy and lost the baby anyway at about 12 weeks. I have been advised that if I become pregnant again I should go on progesterone right away.
Is the drop in progesterone due to age? Am I in the early stages of pre-menopause? Hmmmm.
I will pray for you, Leocea!
