Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Bush Boys Adventure Series
by Father James Tierney

I just saw this new item at the CHC website. This looks fantastic for my ds.
Has anyone read these books? Here is the description from CHC:

Available for the first time in the U.S.! Straight from the Australian bush come these exciting tales of faith, adventure, and camping fun! Ages 8 and up will bushwalk, cook, and camp with the Bush Boys and take part in their many adventures as they learn about safety, integrity, and obedience. Fr. Tierney, Australian parish priest, wrote these books “to delight the reader with exciting bush adventures, to portray the robust life of a big happy Christian family, and to air the possibilities of home-educating.” Join Greg and Bernie, homeschooled Catholic boys, as they hunt for treasure, rescue a cousin from kidnappers, and deal with snakebites, wild animals, and much more! Lively illustrations accompany each book including handy maps, diagrams, and ABC’s of Camping. Softcover. Too exciting to put down!

Bush Boys & Cuthbert Joins the Bush Boys (516 pgs.)
Bush Boys and Bush Rangers (396 pgs.)
Bush Boys on the Move (441 pgs.)
New Boys in the Bush (492 pgs.)

My guys love them! Our copies are quite bedraggled now. The Bruggies brought them to us when they visited a few summers ago. They knew about them when they were only published in Australia.

My kids LOVE the Bush Boys!

We ordered them from Australia (AND paid the shipping) they are so good. We were THRILLED to see them finally available in the USA in the CHC catalog.

God bless,
Christine

Oh, good. When they are back in stock I am planning to get a set to save for my ds for his birthday. I had never heard of them... how did I miss these?

My ds loves the CHC Devotional stories series with Greg. I was happy to see these books are stories about another Greg

Can anyone tell me for sure what order these books come in?
Which is the first one? My ds loves to read things in order, and even looking at them I find that I am not 100% sure

By the way, I really like the Catechism Handouts and other materials by Fr Tierney at the Cardinal Newman Faith Resources site. There are some also some resources connected with the Bush Boys there -- like a unit study.

That is a great resource! Thanks, Willa    Did you look over the Bush Boys Explorer Magazine near the bottom? I know my boys will love that...crosswords, nature facts, recipes, and how to make a tent!    Ordered the Bush Boys series, can't wait to read them!

Also, is the first book in the series available in the US?

Another similar series, not Catholic, is the series of Boy Scout books written by Thorton Burgess:

The Boy Scouts in a Trapper's Camp (free ebook)
The Boy Scouts of Woodcraft Camp (free ebook)
The Boy Scouts on Swift River (reprint paperback)
The Boy Scouts on the Lost Trail (reprint hardcover)

I purchased really nice hardbound copies of these titles a few years ago from the Thornton Burgess society. They may still publish them, but I couldn't find them online.
These are outdoor adventure books stressing the values of the Boy Scouts:: "A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent."

Hardcover books from Thornton Burgess Society

Just found this thread by mistake - looking for Cardinal readers.

But my son loves the Bush Boys and is a Boy Scout now, so I might have to look at those Burgess Boy Scout books. Found the link and it looks like several are available if you scroll down. :)

Our set has the first two books in this list, as one book. At least that is the way it seems - it does not seem that there is one missing based on the storyline.
