Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just picked this book at my library.

Papa's Pastries by Charles Toscano, illustrated by Sonja Lamut.

This looks like it is based in Mexico, a poor family who lives on selling pastries made by the father. The family is on their last bit of wood and pastries, the father prays for many blessings on this day, and then tries to sell them. Village to village people cannot buy them. But he gives some away to people who are more needy than he is.

He returns home totally empty-handed, with no wood, no food, no money for the family, but convinced he did the right thing in his generosity.

The next day people show up to return their kindness -- fix their leaking roof, cut wood for the family, and sew clothes.

It is beautiful to see. I think this is a good book to teach about generosity and trust and God's mercy.

That looks lovely!

Of course, the real reason I clicked on this thread is because our favorite local bakery is called "Papa's Pastry Shop." Just hearing the name makes this pregnant lady hungry
