Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just saw this article at Yahoo that Brian Jacques, the author of the Redwall series died this past Saturday at 71. We have certainly loved his books. It will be sad to know that there are no more coming.

I pray that his Soul with rest in Eternal Peace.

My oldest here was the biggest Red Wall fan and since he is almost 23 that seems that Brian has been a part of our lives for so long. We were wondering about books in progress - will they be finished by a ghost writer...

Mary, The Rogue Crew will be released this year, so I guess he did finish it.

I wasn't quite sure how to tell my current 11-year-old who is the height of his Redwall phase. The other boys went through the height of the phase 8-10 years ago. I'll never forget finding my then 10-year-old (now 17) weeping his eyes out in his bed over the death of Rose in Martin the Warrior. Anyway, I broke the news over dinner and son was dumbfounded. "That means there won't be anymore books??" Sigh.

We decided the right thing to do is to pray for Mr. Jacques. At bedtime that night after the litany of bless so and so, son added Brian Jacques.

For all the joy he has brought children, I pray there is a place for him in the Kingdom.
