Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am going to use it for my 2nd grade next year as well, so I'll tag along on this thread.

Becky and Lara,

Did you end up going this way? What do you think?

I did one section of it (the human body), and the kids enjoyed the experiments and putting parts on the body diagram; but I just didn't put the effort into supplementing with living books. It did get us through a dry spell in science, and it uses Janice Van Cleave's books which I really like. It also sparked an interest in noticing their body and how it works, so I can't complain. I think it's a good way to help organize your thoughts on a subject, if you need direction (like me). It was very easy to implement, and the supplies are listed out in the front of the section.

It's definitely a classial style - short bursts of information from encyclopedia, short narration on subject in notebook with a picture, experiment sheets, and keeping a notebook. It was written for those using TWTM and uses the guidance from that book to form the study. So, it is a great resource for that style of learning/eduation. It's not a CM approach.

I haven't looked at the upper levels, and there is also a history version (written my someone else) that they are now providing.

HTH

No, I decided I should really just use what I already have on hand. I'm notorious for going over budget, and this year there ended up being a few other things I really wanted to get, so I passed this one up.
