Hi Moms~
At the last minute, I was asked to teach my son's home school preschool coop tomorrow. Usually, I thrive on doing outdoor activities with littles...but it will be raining cats and dogs.
The room is VERY TINY...and we are stuck inside.
I will be talking about Our Lady of Lourdes...but I need some activities that will keep 8 littles (ages 3-4) occupied for approx. 2 hours.
Any ideas???

Goodness- that is a challenge.
Some ideas...
Bring several picture books to read through out the course of the two hours.
OLL coloring sheets
Play "Our Lady Says" (similar to Simon says)
Maybe playdough so that they can mold grottos and make figures of OLL and St. Bernadette
Sing several songs throughout the two hours: Jesus Loves Me, This Little Light of Mine, etc
Snack
I think it would be hard to have all the activities for the two hours tied into the Lourdes feast day, so I would not hesitate to do one or two things along that theme and then whatever you can come up with to fill the rest of the time. That is a LONG time to be in a tiny room with 8 little ones.
God Bless you for your generous heart!

How about a little activity song, switching the "Bluebird" words with:
"Angels, angels in and out my windows.
Angels, angels in and out my windows.
Angels, angels in and out my windows,
Oh, Mary how we love you!"
With the children making a circle, holding hands with raised arms, and one starts off leading, going under the kids raised arms, in then out of the circle. And whomever the leader is standing behind, when the song ends, gets to lead the the next song!

I thought you were talking about your own dc, and I was going to say, "can I ever relate!"
I would definitely try to do a simple craft, and with my dc, one you could eat after would be an bonus!
I would also recommend trying to speak softly and encourage soft speaking.

Thank you all for the ideas!
The parish that allows us their facilities is super strict--no food, no crumbs, no mess--nothing. Must look as if we were never there.
Uh--we are talking 3-4 year olds in one room.
Play doh is such an excellent idea...but I knew that would get smashed in the carpet. Of course.
We did some picture books, coloring, songs, (I even brought my violin to play during the songs--which they loved), and felt board activities where each little could participate.
A pretty painless 2 hours. Though, it seemed daunting at the onset.
Thank you all for the marvelous ideas!

Oh neat! I am sure they enjoyed the violin! Well you should have mentioned that wonderful idea, it sure trumped my ideas!
Good for you and having such a positive attitude!
(Thanks Mamasue for the idea about play-dough and googly-eyes, and pipe-cleaners! Neat!)
