Dear Friends,

Yesterday our son was in a fender bender, where happily no one was hurt! However, our mini-van...into which we had just (literally one day before ) put $1100 worth of repairs and maintenance, is now pretty much totaled.

The problem is for some reason, perhaps an oversight on our part, is NOT covered for collision, which in essence means that we will have to pay for this expense out of pocket!

Needless to say, our pockets don't run deep!

I will be calling the insurance agent, and am hoping for, but not expecting a happy resolution.

Any and all prayers would be appreciated!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your prayers. A day or two removed from the event has restored my general good humor and detachment. I am able to laugh at the timing, in an ironic sort of way...the cash out of pocket is still a painful one to consider, but I know what opportunity cost means!   

And, as the insurance adjuster said, I actually came out AHEAD by not paying for collision all these years because of the depreciation of the van! CRAZY!

However, I still wish that the accident could have taken place BEFORE the repairs, and not AFTER!

And the big picture is that my two teenage sons walked away from the accident with not a scratch...wiser for the experience! I know it might not have been so.

(Education is expensive...whether at the University or the school of hard knocks! )
