We have had an incredible 24hours in my state, not far from us the town of Toowoomba that sits on a mountain faced a terrible inland tsunami of water out of the blue from the torrents of rain that they received that day and from all the we have been receiving in the last few weeks. Eight confirmed dead, more missing, the scenes from this area are truly horrendous. There are many lovely homeschooling families living in this area, we are praying that they are all ok.
This water is heading to our city and will arrive tomorrow. Rain of this magnitude hit our city in 1974 and devastated it but there is a dam, built since that time that we hope will buffer the situation, though very bad flooding is expected and after what happened yesterday, it is of great concern.
We are personally fine and safe but the rain won't stop and we don't know where all this will finish and we have been very shaken by what we have seen on the news in Toowoomba and the surrounding areas all around Toowoomba.
Thank you!

Erin and I crossposted!! So we've combined our threads for prayers, here is Erin's info on the situation:
***************************************
Please keep Queenslanders in your prayers. Since New Year massive amounts of Qld have been under flood waters, many homes and crops have been lost. Food prices will be soaring in Australia for months to come.
Yesterday flash flooding roared through Toowombah, 8 are confirmed dead and more than 70 still missing in the Lockyer Valley. Including small children.
Brisbane (capital city of Queensland)is on flood alert and those in the low lying areas are being evacuated. Predicated to be the biggest flood since 1974
We are on standby for flooding here on the North Coast of NSW. Predictions are that our town of Grafton will flood tomorrow with the river peaking at 6.5 metres and breaching the levee wall.
Please pray for those missing, for no more deaths and minimal devastation.

We've been monitoring the flooding at my house...My husband has some Aussie military friends, and of course, we have all of you, too!
I am praying!

If I can ask for extra prayers, my aunty (raised with me as a sister) she is stuck in Brisbane city and the trains have stopped, the flooding has started...she thinks she can get a ride with someone, but we are worried, things are changing here by the hour...

Erin and Anne, please keep us updated! I am praying throughout the day for all your intentions mentioned and especially for your families! May God protect you!
I believe St. Florian is the patron saint of floods. Perhaps someone could confirm or correct this.

Thank you for your prayers so far, my aunty arrived home 4 and half hours after leaving the city...a very slow trip home sidestepping flooding along the way. We were so relieved as we had lost phone contact with her.
Our city is bracing for massive floods in the next 48 hours, we are hoping and praying the dam can handle the flows..and that we don't have any more downpours..
Erin, how's your place doing?

Anne
How is your suburb situated regards flooding?
We have major flood warning for the Clarence Valley (Grafton's River). The Pacific Highway(major highway along the East Coast of Australia) is now cut, north of here. Caught an interesting snippet on the news of this afternoon when they closed the highway to undertake a major muster of moving 500 head of cattle. My brother (at Lismore) rang me earlier today he has been swimming horses out of paddocks all through the night, moving to higher ground.
Lots of local roads are cut too, there is a road block metres before our turnoff as the Highway further up is closed due to landslides. They are letting local traffic through though.
As we are out of town and on high ground, we personally will be fine. But our town and surrounding areas are not looking good.
