Our libraries do not carry them so I would have to buy a used copy online.

Did anyone enjoy these? Appropriate for children?

Do you mean the ones written about her or the books she wrote herself?

The first are entirely appropriate for children except (in my opinion) the final book in the series, which is about her life as a telegraph operator away from home...you should pre-read this one before letting children read it.

Her own writings vary greatly in content (at least the books I have read, and I have not read everything she ever wrote). Here, pre-reading would be important.

Certainly the books about Rose's childhood would be very child-friendly.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I was asking about the books she wrote. I read that they are for ages 9-12 but remember a friend mentioning a few years ago that they were a lot "heavier" than Little House books but now I can't remember which friend said this.

I would consider going through Inter-Library Loan (ILL) to get these titles, so you can pre-read them.

Roger Lea MacBride's "Rose Years" books are fine, with the possible exception of the final volume (discusses drinking, marriage, boyfriends, etc.).
