Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So I have the desire (and call) to dress in skirts/dresses or at least far more modestly even if wearing pants on a regular basis. I have issues with modesty due to a large chest size (if you know what I mean) so shirts that are fitting in the hips/waist/etc are usually a bit tighter (though not indecently so) in the chest area. I want to dress in business casual on a more regular basis (I am out of the house a lot and get tired of looking like jeans and tee kind of girl. What do y'all do to help yourself dress nicely and modestly at the same time?

I recently snagged a whole bunch of knee length skirts from my grandma that she no longer needed (they wear casual to work now), so I have like 15 or 20 skirts, some are significantly nicer for Mass.

Nice blazer-style jackets are great for this - they go with skirts and pants, too. They turn a blouse or turtleneck (or even a T-shirt) into a put-together outfit.

My mom's go-to accessory is the scarf. She has a few silky-type scarves in solids and patterns that she drapes or ties around her shoulders. They dress up an outfit and draw the eye up to the face.

I need to hit goodwill and look for some more tops, I don't have too many since I've lost about 20/25 pounds. I wish I could wear button downs since they always look so nice and put together but I have sizing issues because of my chest size (get the gap issue)

with the shirt tucked in and a jacket to cover.. you can get away with wearing a larger button down with a large chest.. also look for button downs in stretchy fabrics.. and there's the possibility of leaving the top couple of buttons loose but sewing down the placket so that the shirt can't gape even if it's a bit tight.. but still an obvious pull can be almost as bad.

There's lots of nice knit tops that will work with a jacket over it.. or a vest.. or a cardigan.. consider twin sets and lightweight sweaters as well for your knits.. sweaters come in long and short sleeve.. even sleeveless which can help make a jacket less warm.

A big clunky necklace can also cover a plain neckline on a simple teeshirt so that it looks dressier than it is.. plus it will draw attention upwards from your bustline

Another possiblity for dressing up simpler clothes is a scarf.. again.. it can draw attention above your bustline and give a nice "collar" effect to a tee-shirt.

And tee-shirts can give you lots of options for a pretty low cost.. just get the prettier tees with the scoop or v neck.. and the nice finish.. not ones that are finished the same as a man's tee. Then using all those extras you can match to different skirts and dress up the tops.

One more thought on the button downs.. you might be able to get the looser fitting ones.. like the camp shirts.. and then have darts added or sides taken in a bit so that the bustline is ample and the shirt fits down a bit for a nicer look than "tent"

I was thinking while reading your initial post: nice jackets (there are so many *very* feminine options!) and a wide, thin, dressy scarf to cover the neckline, draw attention upward and also to cover any tautness of blouse material across certain areas. I have the opposite issue in that particular area, but I will still wear a scarf at times to cover a lower neckline or just for warmth

Thank you for the suggestions. I love tunic tops which help alot with the "length" issues I have. The "girls" tend to shorten normal length shirts to an immodest/unflattering level. Great suggestions, gives me lots of options to look at for dressing nicely and modestly.

I wear the tees and camis from Downeast Basics - or in the middle of summer the t-lets from Getti's Accessories almost every day to help raise the necklines and lower the hems of all the cute tops that just aren't quite modest on those of us who are seriously 'blessed' up top. All of these work for nursing because the necklines are stretchy enough that I can pull up my outer top and pull down the neckline of the under-top. I have also learned some simple tailoring (like adding darts under the bust) to make things like button-down shirts fit better through the waist while still accomodating my chest. I am a *very* novice seamstress, but tailoring a shirt or dress this way really isn't hard (I practiced on $2 ones from the thrift store so that I didn't feel bad if I wrecked the first few).

We are in Australia, and I suppose I am thinking Hot, so I like little cool short sleeved cardigans over t shirts. I am conscious of them not being too low, otherwise I put a lace insert in place.
In winter I like shawls and pretty feminine scarves.
I wear long sleeved t shirt material tops.
I like at times to wear necklaces.
My dh bought me too special ones. A large Red heart, and Aussieannie made me a lovely Rosary necklace.
