Dear Moms,
It is 10:28 PM EST. Please pray for my 5yo dd. She burned her face on our clothing iron tonight, and the burn is quite considerable.
Our ped told us to take her to the Children's Hospital right away, due to the characteristics of the burn. It is at least 2nd degree and goes all the way from her eye to her chin.
They will have to scrub the dead skin off the burn, which is going to be very painful for her. Please please pray for her.
Also, we have been given advanced warning from friends that Child Protection Services will have to be called in to question my husband who is with her. Please pray that this goes well.

They are home. She was seen around 1:30am. My husband said the ER was packed with really sick kids and essentially, they just put silvadene on her and a gauze wrap and told her to go home. Thankfully, (or not?) no scrubbing was involved. The ER Dr. said she would need a microdermabrasion in the future?
However, I do not think her pediatrician is going to be happy, as she was convinced they would need to do further steps (ie: scrubbing the dead skin/blisters off) so that she can heal properly). Her godmother, who is a pediatric Physical Therapist who treats burn victims said the same thing...and she also said they should NOT use silvadene on her face! And of course, they did...
Please keep up the prayers, as I think the hard part will come today at our peds office...and my husband cannot be there at all, due to work...so it will be just me with my 3yo...and honestly, dads are just better at some things than moms are....
Thank you thank you thank you for your prayers. If you could please pray that this does not scar (somehow? miraculously?) I would be grateful. My poor sweet baby has such a china-doll complexion...

UPDATE********************
I went to change her bandage this morning (I did not see it last night)...and realized that the doctor was so careless that he actually cover the burn itself with plastic tape!!! It was terrible for me to have to pull the tape off of the burn itself. Why was he so careless!!?!?! 
It looks pretty bad. I am hoping that the ped refers us to a ped. plastic surgeon--not necessarily that it even needs surgery--it just needs someone who will work with the area with extreme precision and care.
Please pray for us. My dd screamed bloody murder when I took the bandage off...for the record, I had her in a warm, steamy shower, too, in hopes it would help.
The worst is yet to come...

I just spoke with my dd. She has not been called in yet. She is of good spirits because she has alone time with daddy--she has no idea what is in store for her.
I told her that they will have to check her "owie" and that she was going to need to be brave and use her courage words. I told her to think of Jesus if she needed courage...and to imagine mommy holding her hand.
I do pray that she will be ok. My poor little dear...

Maggie I've been through this with my 2 year old girl earlier this year, so I have great empathy,  be ASSURED of prayers from our household!! I'm off to ask the children to pray now...look forward to updates!
