Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen any books about winter that aren't about snow, and that aren't only about animals hibernating?

This is a really great question. We live in the tropical part of Australia, no snow and predominately have only really two noticeable seasons, summer and winter. Spring and Autumn are only apparent for a few weeks. I'd love to find non-snow winter books too

I've been contemplating this since you posted. My thought is that when a book is set in a place with little variation of seasons you aren't going to have books highlighting a season. The books about snow and hibernating are written to highlight and teach about the change - if there is no change you wouldn't tend to even address that or mention it is winter, kwim. But I do see picture books that highlight a holiday in a season (like Christmas in winter) that are set in a non-snow climate and that is often a part of the story line or at least evident in illustrations.
Hurray for Three Kings Day
N is for Navidad

Another type of picture book I've seen for non-snow receiving climates is one that contrasts the novelty of snow and usually has a character wondering about and interested in the snow that they don't get. Examples of that are:

Amadi's Snowman

Little Cliff and the Cold Place

Both very fun books.

I just remembered Walking With the Seasons in Kakadu Not talking about only Winter but all six of the Aboriginal seasons in the 'Top End' of Australia. Beautiful book.
