I've read about the benefits of "green powders", but how do you know which one is a good one to add to your family's diet? I saw Amazing Grass chocolate drink powder on Amazon for $15.18 (rather than $33.50) so I was thinking of trying it, but I don't really know what I'm looking for in a powder or if there's anything I should avoid (especially while I'm pregnant or for the kids.)
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Melissa

I've tried green powders over the years and have never loved any of them. Sorry! But I do see the benefit of having more greens. I just put in an order for a very basic green powder, organic barley greens. Barley, wheat, or spiralina tend to make up the bulk of most green drinks, anyway. The cost is right and I plan to slip it into smoothies. You can tool around and find other green powders from the simple (single grass) to combination drinks. Good luck!

The key is to know how you are going to use it. If you want to be able to mix is quickly in water and just drink it, then you may not be able to tolerate the straight greens. That's why there are soooooooooo many different ones on the market! There seems to be endless attempts to make this stuff easy on the palate.

Thanks. I'm just looking to hide it in smoothies to boost the nutritional factor a bit.

I've tried green powders and had really bad stomach cramps. They are not for everyone.

How about just adding whole green foods yourself - spinach, swiss chard and/or collard greens..and finding the right amount that tastes good to you? When I add 2 handfuls of spinach in my "green smoothie", you can't even taste it. You'd never know it was in there, the colour gives it away though
I've bought one of those "greens+" and ended up returning it, it tasted so .

I have experienced an upset stomach when I take too much of a concentrated vegetable/green. I need to keep my greens to fruit/liquid ratio 1:2+ when making a smoothie. If I add a dairy, I do even better.

I already add spinach to smoothies, but was looking to up the goodness factor a little more even. I guess I'll start with small amounts of the powder so as not to overwhelm any tummies.
Thanks again!
