Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone attend Daily Mass?

I've been feeling a constant tug to go.
However, being the self conscious person that I am , I'm uncomfortable at the thought of standing out being the only family with school aged children. Imagining the looks and/or comments has kept me home.

We are only two minutes from our parish and I think it would be a nice way to start our day.

Does anyone attend Daily Mass with their children?

Wow! Only 2 minutes! That's fantastic!! We go once a week but it's a 30 minute drive each way. I was feeling that same tug last spring and decided I'd start with once a week and see where it lead me. Right now, I think it's a good fit for us and I'd love to go more...

I definitely wouldn't let the stares stop me from going...they might be staring out of admiration! I usually get lots of kind words and compliments after mass, (especially from the older ladies ) even when the dc make a little noise. It's so nice and re-affirming to hear. And you never know, you might meet another homeschooling family there or plant a seed in a young person's heart. One thing's for sure, the experience is so different than the weekend masses and the kids really get to "feel" what it's all about (minus the crowds and noise and usual distractions)...so special

Thank you for the encouragement, Kristine.

We are going this Friday for Mass.

During the week, Mass is held in a side chapel that only holds 30 people so I know we'll be noticed. (Can't hide in the back until I feel more comfortable. )

Hi Michaela,
Most people's reactions to seeing a family at daily Mass are positive at our parish. They like to see the little ones and are pretty patient with the wiggling and/or noises they make, especially the older parishioners.

I have such a strong desire to attend daily Mass and I know my oldest would love to as well. Unfortunately, my toddler, who is a delight, is also a handful. With a nursing baby, I cannot give her the attention she needs to stay interested and quiet at Mass.

Last time I tried to take her, we sat up front and as soon as I put the baby to the breast, my toddler snuck out of the pew and ran up the steps to the altar (to "see Jesus"). None of us could get her back fast enough. I had to stop nursing the baby (which made her scream) and chase my 2yo. In the meantime, one of my shoes fell off (a mule) on the steps. All in front of everyone.

I am happy with the state of life I have been given but it sure does sound nice to attend Mass with children who all stand still and are attentive. Sigh...someday!

Rebecca, you put a big smile on my face imagining the scene. The antics of little ones always make me smile. (Even mine...after it's over! LOL)
Maybe because our parish is mainly retired people. I'd love to see more children.

We go on Fridays and what a lovely addition this has been for us. We are the only pple under 50. My kids love this mass because it's not a high mass, they are guarrenteed the first pew and Father often comes over to talk to us afterwards. This week he is giving my son a tour of the church and mass serving pieces (so that he learns the proper names and not my misprounciations!).

I used to wish we could go to the wednesday mass with the catholic school kids, but that really isn't a good choice for us. We would have been in the back, the school kids get Father's attention and it reminds my kids that they are not a part of that group.

I used to go to daily mass until I got pregnant with Gregory. Now I go in spurts, depending on our circumstances. When I try to go back, I take baby steps. First, I pick the special feast days, patron saint days, or family days (birthdays, anniversaries, death anniversaries) to attend the Mass. Usually there is one or two a week (we have a large extended family). This helps get into a routine. Then I will start daily Mass during Advent and/or Lent. Summertime has been a good time to start the habit, too.

This Lent that was my intention, but God had other plans, including emergency laparoscopy.

I've also considered taking my children to the neighboring parish for the Catholic School children's mass. I thought it would be a good experience to be around the other children, however you brought up a good point.

I never thought of it before you gave me the visual   . The Catholic school children would be in uniform so my children probably wouldn't feel part of the group either.

Oh, Rebecca, relating..... You just hope moments like this take away at least a little of our purgatory time!!!!!

Michaela, your children are at great ages to go to daily Mass. It seems nowadays most people who see you will know you are a homeschooling family and, like was said, will just love seeing the children there. I say go for it!

Before we moved, we were the ONLY people at daily mass, and the rule for the little ones was that they were not allowed to crawl on Father's boots. He was great, and always said that he would rather have anyone at mass with disruptive children than not at mass at all. He also introduced me to a quote (can't remember who really said it ) found in this book (I think) The Way of the Lamb by John Saward. It said something about the Holy Innocence sitting around the throne of God playing with their crowns and unaware of their glory. That image has helped me through many a difficult mass and adoration situation.

I like to use daily Mass as an opportunity for training Mass manners since it is more quiet and reverent and there are fewer distractions (children) and it's shorter!

And if you feel the urge to go, that is a very real request of God's that you be there! (IMHO)
