Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies I'd like to make some pot holders for my friends this Christmas . my question is what have/ do you use to stuff them with ?
one yr. I went to the effort to purchase the supposed heat protective quilting stuff. It did not work ! the heat came right thru the stuff I was so disgusted . so what did our grandparents use to stuff these things , wool , cotton ?
what has worked for you ?
Thanks , Rox

stef It was sold just like fabric off of a big roll so I don't know the brand but I bought it at Fanny's and it was not cheap either . I was as I say pretty disappointed . That was about 8 yrs ago . I'm thinking to use some of the old wool from an old quilt my Mum gave me .
do you think wool would be a good insultaor for this ? I'm thinking if they use it in quilts , blankets to keep heat in , maybe it'd be good to keep heat off when using as pot holders .
what do you think ?

My sis made me the best hot mats ever big squares and one at least 9x13 she just padded with layers and layers of old material. The actual pot holders my Omi made are just a few layers of fabric, They are wonderful Annie

I've also heard (although haven't tried it yet) that the cotton batting you put between quilts works. Although you have to put several layers. I've always wanted to make pot holders but never have.
