Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Updated - thank you thank you for your prayers! DH is home now. After lots of tests and lots of doses of morphine he was told it was most likely indigestion or a virus! I am so thankful for free medical care, because I can't imagine how much it all cost or why he was given so many drugs! He is now struggling to deal with the effects of the medications - he had 3 doses of morphine, plus some other stuff I don't know the names of which he had allergic reactions to. Your prayers worked because family and friends really came through for us in the end and gave all the help and support we needed. And my mum even prayed her rosary for DH - at the same time that I was sitting by his bed praying it at the hospital! So thank you very much. We are all so exhausted but very very thankful to God that it was so minor! Remembering your intentions, Lucy x
Please pray for my husband and children. DH woke up with crushing chest pains, and against his wishes I called a medical helpline who sent an ambulance and paramedic. They have just taken him in to hospital. The paramedic said he has not had a heart attack but there is something wrong with his heart. I don't know what it is but at one point his BP tanked and his pulse was dropping and they were pumping him with drugs. I could not go with him as I was trying to look after the children. My family are not "able" to help which is making me so cross. DS was supposed to go to a special creatures of the night activity tonight, and I am trying to find someone to go with him to keep things normal. I am floundering a bit trying to think what to do - find someone who can take the kids and go to hospital or stay here and keep them normal and calm? I just don't know. With my anxiety issues and trying to seem calm, I am feeling like I can't even think now. Please pray that I can know what to do, that the children will be calm and okay as they are so far, and most of all that my lovely darling DH will be fine.

Lucy,
I'm just seeing this over here! You absolutely have my prayers for your husband, the kids, and YOU!!! When my husband faces something medically scary, I feel like a limp noodle.    You did the right thing in calling the paramedics!

If you have to cancel a few events because you can't get the kids to them, DO SO WITHOUT GUILT OR WORRY! The important thing to remember is that the kids are going to take their cues directly from you. Take it minute by minute if you have to, rather than a day at a time. If you let them know that you're canceling an activity because you're all going to have a big adventure building forts with couch cushions and blankets and clothespins they likely won't skip a beat. Plan some fun dinners and at-home fun - crazy things...picnic on the porch, backwards dinner with desert first, a fun movie night from a favorite you have at home, dress up from mom's closet... If they are worried about dad, it's ok to acknowledge that and tell them that you're worried and miss him, too!!

I'm praying that your days and nights apart are smooth, that you can remain calm and positive for the kids, and that somehow...someway...someone helps you out so that you can go visit your hubby!!! I'm sending lots of prayers for his recovery, and that it's nothing serious so he's back home with all of you soon! And sending lots of hugs for you!

So glad to hear that it was probably nothing serious! Praying that the medications leave his system smoothly with no more problems! How scary, all around. Praying for peace for you and your whole family, also.
