Where do you store yours? Do you hang them? Stick them in a drawer? Have them sitting on your counter? I can't seem to find a good spot that is both convenient and out of the way. I guess the drawer beside the oven makes the most sense, but mine is currently stuffed with kitchen utensils. I suppose I could just move the utensils to another drawer, but that's just too logical.

In a drawer next to my ovens.

An aside, one of the last times I went through my kitchen with a fine tooth comb, I purged a lot of redundant or not-often-used utensils out of my drawers. I have to be very frugal with the use of my kitchen space! I just use a big container to hold the "only-used-every-now-and-then" kitchen utensils in my pantry. This made room for the IMPORTANT frequently used items in drawers and decluttered a lot for me!

Good luck finding a home for your pot holders!

What a ridiculous question to ask on a homeschooling forum, eh? One of my drawers next to the oven holds all my spices. I lay them down flat so I can easily read all the labels. But that's precious real estate! I think it's brilliant to pack up all the rarely-used utensils that are jammed in the other drawer and store them in the laundry room off the kitchen (as opposed to the pantry, since we don't have one...I use my linen closet for canned and dried goods - how pathetic is that? ) Good idea, Jen. Thanks!

I have mine hung on one of those 3M removable hooks (the sticky-backed ones, know what I mean?) which is stuck on the small cabinet door above & to the right of my oven. It's very convenient I also use those hooks to hold my dishcloth, dish towel and scrub brush on the wall above my kitchen sink. Handy little things!

I also shoved them in a drawer for years until it hit me that I could hang them on the inside of the cupboard door that sits next to the stove. (also use the 3M removable hooks.) I don't know why I didn't think of it years earlier!

So, the 3M hooks are strong enough for a dishtowel then? Yippee! I don't have a good place for it at the sink, so that would be a great solution.

3M hooks are strong enough to hold bath towels or heavy coats etc however they are NOT strong enough to hold the 3 yr old swinging on the item hanging on the hook

actually.. either the paint/paper on the wallboard pulls off or the hook itself breaks rather than the tape pulling free (without the wall attached) or the sliding part of the hook breaking.. and yes I was still able to take them clean off the wall.. actually the ones that broke were on a door so no paint/wallboard that seperates and the hook broke before it came off with the toddler hanging on it (different toddlers btw.. but they all seem to have to try that trick)

I have a drawer between the stove and oven. My mother and MIL also keep theirs in a drawer.

I need to buy new ones, and this time get ones that don't run color in the wash.

Jennifer - maybe you can hint to DH that you'd like some in your stocking this year. I told DH that I would love some dish rags and a new broom for Christmas. Wow, the things that I get excited about these days...

Jodie - I've heard of toddlers hanging from chandeliers and ceiling fans but never plastic hooks. Too funny!

Oh, Jodie, ds and I are having soooo much fun picturing your 3yos hanging from 3M hooks!!! My ds is a "tad" bit older, but I think he's actually visions of attempting such a feat!!! The mischievous grin and soft chuckles are so worth whatever trauma you endured to be able to write that post!!!

As for hot pads, ours usually reside in our towel drawer, unless they go AWOL in the sock basket or escape via the laundry blackhole in our basement (which we have yet to locate and eradicate)! I have two hand knit hotpads, lovingly made by my dear mil, which are hidden away for special occasions and two granny crocheted round ones hanging from a magnet hook on the frig, within arms' reach of the stove...(these were garnered for free with pres. coupon and match a nearby quilt perfectly)...dc are under absolute strict orders NOT to use them...I'm trying to have just one pretty kitchen item stay that way, at least for a little while anyway! All our favorite hotpads tend to get burned or scorched using our gas stove.

Mine also hang on a hook on the inside door of the cabinet next to the stove. The cabinet shelves had originally been cut back to accommodate a spice rack on the door. But I have a big wall spice rack so I took it off. Its now the perfect place for potholders.

The 3M hook will hold a small child. in our house it was the paper on the drywall that gave out---not the hook

oh I should mention.. my potholders are in a drawer.. most used cooking utensils are in a jar on the counter but ALSO

My sharp knives hang on the magnetic holders on the wall behind my stove. that can free up counter space (no knife block) or drawer space AND I find that it gets the knives out of reach better.. one location that is hot and sharp to watch out for littles and train them instead of two

Potholders are in a basket on the counter. Easy to grab!

Peace,
Nancy
