Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've had several friends tell me they like Safe Eyes a lot. It seems to have more features for PC users, but yet probably still decent for the Mac too??? I don't know!

Is there one popular with Mac Users? I'm terrible at computer-anything! I don't even know how to google this stuff.

Kacky,
I've been saving this thread in my inbox so I could respond to your question.

We don't use any specific software for our mac and the children. Here's what we do:

** The children each have their own account as do mom and dad and all are password protected (of course, we know each child's passwords)

** From our admin account in System Preferences, we can manage the accounts and we turn on Parental Controls, adjusting features to suit our family preferences.

** The children use SAFARI as a browser because of the preferences my husband and I can set. With Safari open, in preferences, rather than filtering sites, we set it to open ONLY those sites which we allow. This means that my 5 yo has his own account and can open: Starfall, Math Is Fun, and Explode the Code...and that's it! Obviously, each child's needs are different and the sites they are able to open are based on their needs, maturity, and the prudence we exercise in allowing/not allowing certain sites.

Hope this helps! I don't know about Safe Eyes, and I haven't really had an opportunity to look into any other internet safety programs for macs. Anyone???

Jen,
Is there a way to turn the internet off completely in each of your kids accounts? We are thinking of doing something similar for our dc as you have done.

Yep. You can do all this and MORE from Parental Controls in your system preferences.

We use NetNanny on my mac and have been very happy with it. We just use it to filter the web but I think there is much more you can do with it.

We do the same as Jen, but using Firefox instead of Safari. We've had some issues with Firefox which I'm now wondering might be a browser issue, so will have to try Safari, but so far things are working.
