Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

HI. I have a question (or some questions) about Medjugorje.

The stories of Fatima and Lourdes touched my heart - in a way, it was the story of Fatima that lead me to the Catholic Church.

But I'm wondering about Medjugorje? I see some web-site dedicated to 'spreading Our Lady's message of Medjugorje', and others I've spoke to think the whole thing is of the devil.

As far as I know, it's not (yet) Church approved, is that correct?

Has anyone here done some research, or looked into it much?   I'm wondering whether to look into it, or leave it alone, and focus my energies elsewhere; I'm finding my time is incredibly limited these days!

And yet, I find myself curious about it. I did see one documentary a few years ago, but do not know much about the whole thing.

Hi Linda,
It also interests me, but as a dear orthodox Priest recently said, keep to the ones that have been 'church approved'- There is still some contraversy surrounding some authorities wih Medjugorje'.
I suppose it is my opinion, but It certainly made sense to me.

Thank you Leanne. This is also pretty much the policy of the board

The Vatican in March 2010 announced the formation of a commission to investigate the reported Marian apparitions at Medjugorje. Since Medjugorje has been a source of both enthusiasm and divisions among Catholics since 1981, until there is an official pronouncement, it is the recommendation of the board to keep discussion of Marian apparitions to those which have been formally approved.

FYI, EWTN has a summary of Church teaching on private revelation/apparitions which hopefully is helpful.

HI - sorry about that - no problems. I'll ask elsewhere.

God bless,

Linda.
