Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a good list of living history books for the younger ages/grades, particularly about ancient civilizations.

Or, do you have any that you personally recommend?

I have a list here of Mesopotamia/Israel and Ancient Egyptian books. Some are for the younger set.

Krista~
Here is our Ancient Egypt Booklist for this term:

And, this blog-Satori Smiles has a supplemental reading list that follows along with Story of the World -Ancient-Vol.1. There are some picture books and child-dvds in there that may be good for your 6 yo.

Hi Krista.

The following is our resource list for studying the Time of Christ, the Greeks - 11th century. The plans clearly note whether or not the reading selections are intended for 4th grade or 8th grade, and there are several picture books throughout that were read alouds for youngers. I'll have to see if I can find my ancient history reading list. I couldn't find it just now...it might be on another computer. I'll come back and post for you if I find it. I know I have some picture books on it.

Also be sure to check out:

** St. George's Books - Chronological history reading broken down by age - I enjoy this site and their recommendations broken down by chronological period and further by ages. It's very helpful. St. George's Books sells the resource recommendations for the RC History program.

** Reading Your Way Through History (great resource here, but not many books for youngers)

** Penny Gardner's Living History Booklist

Have fun building booklists!!!
